The belief that each of us has a rich untapped potential is what led me to my previous vocation as a special education teacher over thirty years ago. This principle still guides me.
A new chapter in my life began in 1987. Due to a spinal condition and visual impairment, I could not maintain good posture, suffered migraines several times a week, and my jaw popped every time I opened and closed my mouth! I had stopped playing the flute because of stress to my hands. A friend with a black belt in karate told me that his flexibility and performance had improved after one Feldenkrais lesson, so I decided to try it.
Labels we use to describe people may seem convenient, but sometimes they are not helpful. Under certain circumstances, anyone might seem "handicapped," or "disabled." Conversely, any one of us can be "intelligent," "talented," and "heroic." Whatever your starting point- advanced or challenged- improvement is possible.
