This is Jane Ella; I'm a Guild Certified Feldenkrais(R) Practitioner and Licensed Massage Bodywork Therapist in Greenville, South Carolina.  I offer classes, workshops, and individual sessions.

The name of my newsletter,
"Metamoves," describes my intention:  to change the ground rules- to find more efficient ways of moving and functioning that challenge underlying, self-limiting assumptions about who we think we are and what we believe we can or cannot do.
The belief that each of us has a rich untapped potential is what led me to my previous vocation as a special education teacher over thirty years ago.  This principle still guides me.

A new chapter in my life began in 1987.  Due to a spinal condition and visual impairment, I could not maintain good posture, suffered migraines several times a week, and my jaw popped every time I opened and closed my mouth!  I had stopped playing the flute because of stress to my hands.  A friend with a black belt in karate told me that his flexibility and performance had improved after one Feldenkrais lesson, so I decided to try it.
After two lessons with Dianne Postneiks, I realized that I had to share this work with others.  After I completed the 4-year Practitioner Training in 1991, I practiced part time at home, and as much as the school system allowed, used the method in my classroom. (The kids loved it!)

Now the TMJ problem is gone and heacaches are rare; I can hike all day without hurting myself, and I'm playing the flute again.  I live near downtwon Greenville with my husband Henry Mitchell, a writer, and our German Shepherd Dog Simon, our pal and spiritual guide.

In 2009 I completed the Therapeutic Massage Certification Program at Greenville Technical College and obtained my license.  I am pleased to have broadened my scope of practice to provide massage therapy to my clients.
Labels we use to describe people may seem convenient, but sometimes they are not helpful.  Under certain circumstances, anyone might seem "handicapped," or "disabled."  Conversely, any one of us can be "intelligent," "talented," and "heroic."  Whatever your starting point- advanced or challenged- improvement is possible.

Awareness Through Movement
classes and workshops can be custom-designed to fit the needs of specific disciplines and groups of people.

Individual Functional Integration
